

Charity Shield invitation not sent to clubs yet
The two clubs which are to play in the season opening Charity Shield match has said that they have not received the invitation for the match despite FAM President Ali Azim saying that the invitation would be sent on the 15th of previous month.
Ali Azim, speaking at a press conference on the 15th of last month said that invitation for the Charity Shield would be sent to the clubs that day itself. He also said that the winning team gets about Rf 100000 and that team has to donate 20% of the money to a charity. Azim said that money would be given to the club after deducting this amount.
Azim said that the invitation must have been sent and that he has to check it.
Club Valencia and VB Sports Club will play in the match scheduled to be played on the 29th of this month.
VB Manager Ibrahim Rasheed (Satho) said that they have not received the invitation for the match, so a charity to which the money is to be donated has not been decided yet. "The board would make a decision once we receive the invitation" Satho said.
Valencia CEO Ahmed Saleem said that he has not known of such an invitation. "I have not known of such an invitation. I would be informed if we received the invitation" Saleem said.
The Charity Shield is played this year after cancelling the Cup Winners Cup which is worth Rf 100000.
VB qualified for the match after winning last season's FA Cup while club Valencia qualified for the match after winning last season's Dhivehi League. Valencia was the most successful team last season, winning the President's Cup also. These two teams would play in this year's AFC Cup as well.
